Welcome to Make Bank.

Welcome to Make Bank. The newsletter where we talk about scaling your business from six to eight figures.
It all started with a phone call in 2020.
A prospective client living in Hawaii reached out, frustrated after trying to launch her business.
She finally said,
"I wish I had one checklist with everything I needed to do. This is ridiculous. I'm searching all over the internet just to figure out the next step."
I understood exactly what she meant.
Starting a business often feels like assembling a puzzle without the picture on the box. One website tells you to form an LLC. Another talks about taxes. A YouTube video recommends software. Then someone on social media insists you need a logo before anything else.
It's overwhelming.

So I built the checklist she wished existed.
Over time, that checklist grew into something much bigger. It became my seven-step STARTUP Framework, the foundation of Build a Savvy Startup. The goal was simple: help entrepreneurs stop guessing and start building with intention.
That framework has helped countless founders move from idea to action. Yet something changed over the last few years. The questions I receive today look very different from the questions I received back then.
Founders aren't asking how to register an LLC. They're asking why revenue keeps growing while cash stays tight. They're asking why they're working nights and weekends even after hiring employees. They're asking why a business generating hundreds of thousands of dollars still doesn't feel like financial freedom.
That's the conversation I want to have.
Starting a business isn't the hard part anymore. Today's entrepreneurs have access to incredible resources. AI tools can answer questions in seconds. Educational videos cover almost every topic imaginable. Organizations like the Small Business Administration and your state's Secretary of State offer reliable guidance for many of the technical steps.
Information is everywhere.
But turning that information into a profitable, sustainable company? That is an entirely different challenge.
That's why Build a Savvy Startup is evolving into Make Bank.
The framework isn't disappearing. In fact, you'll still see it throughout this newsletter.
We'll continue using the same seven-step STARTUP process:
- Strategize
- Take Action
- Attract Buyers
- Risk Management
- Track Operations
- Unite a Team
- Profits & Reporting
Those principles still matter. They’re the foundation.
What's changing is the destination. We're moving beyond, "How do I start a business?"
Now we're asking:
- How do I build a company that creates wealth?
- How do I make smarter financial decisions?
- How do I scale without sacrificing my family, health, or sanity?
- How do I build something valuable enough that one day I can step away… or even sell it?
Those are the questions that excite me. As a CPA and business advisor, I've had a front-row seat to hundreds of businesses. One pattern shows up again and again.
Founders realize after launching that the goal of business is to build an asset that can help you make bank.
Launching simply earns you a spot at the starting line.
An asset (your business) serves customers, generates profit, creates opportunities for your team, supports your family, and grows in value over time. It gives you options. It allows you to choose whether you want to keep running the business, pass it to the next generation, or sell it when the timing is right.
That's a very different vision than simply owning your own job. How can you tell the difference? Answer these questions in your head right now:
- If you disappeared for the next 30 days, would your business continue operating?
- Would sales still happen?
- Would clients still receive excellent service?
- Would your team know what to do?
- Or would everything stop until you returned?
Your answers reveal far more than any profit and loss statement. It tells you whether you've built a business or simply created another full-time job for yourself...
One more resource before you go.
Open your favorite AI tool and ask it:
"Act as a business advisor. Review my business model and identify the three biggest obstacles preventing it from becoming a scalable asset."
The answers may surprise you.
If you're still in the early stages of entrepreneurship, my upcoming online course, The Founder Runway, walks you through the startup process step by step using the same framework that grew from that original checklist years ago. It's designed to help new entrepreneurs launch with confidence and avoid many of the common mistakes that slow growth.
And if you're ready for conversations about pricing, profitability, cash flow, scaling, leadership, and the financial decisions that truly move a business forward, you're in the right place.
